Reverse Suspension and Extended Learning  Opportunity, Nov. 27th, 8:30 am
Please share this information with all students today in 2nd class and again today right at 1:15 pm
  • On the upcoming Pro D Day, Nov. 27th we will provide a number of students who are arriving to class late or missing classes an opportunity to catch up
  • Rather than suspend these students from school and miss more time, we will do the reverse, bring them in on a Pro D Day
  • From 8:30 a.m to 10 a.m on this day, a quiet study session will be offered to students in our cafe
  • This list of students will be shared with staff prior to Nov. 27 to allow staff to provide them additional work for these learners
  • A letter will be sent home to parents and a reminder phone call home as well
  • Each student on this list will get a personal reminder as well
  • The list of students attending is based on the number of lates and missed classes as of late
  • Our hope is to implement some new support structures to improve our overall attendance and support your teaching and the learning that takes place here. We are also looking at some prizes for in the near future such as Canucks tickets and other rewards.
  • We are all aware of the impact lates and missed classes has on learners in the short term and long term
  • Today, a teacher arrived to explain that 12 students missed a planned test that all of them were aware of, add to this that there are 300 to 400 students in the hall each 3rd period class change, each are unacceptable
  • How to get off this list?….arrive on time and be in class
  • How to get on this list?, miss a class with no valid reason
  • We care about our students and their success, and attendance will have an impact
  • Pro D Days are a great day off from classes, a chance to sleep in, if you as a student have done this already, this time and reminder may help
  • The next Pro D Day after Nov. 27  is on Jan. 12th, plan to attend and attend on time and you will get this day back
