Hello PAC Members,
My name is Jamie Agtarap and I work for The FORCE Society for Kids’ Mental Health. We are looking to connect with parents who have a child who has experienced a mental health and/or substance use challenge in their life.
Parent Volunteers Needed
We are looking for parent volunteers to join a Collaborative Local Action Team in Vancouver. The team consists of local mental health and substance use professionals (Doctors, Clinicians, Counsellors, Teachers, RCMP, community groups) AND youth (18 yrs to 25 yrs) and families who have lived experience in accessing child and youth mental health and/or substance use services and supports. Youth and Families have an important role to play on Local Action Teams and are invited to join as co-members of the team. Youth and Families contribute their lived experience and ideas about the people, services and practices that have helped them when accessing services and supports. Youth and Families will also identify and offer suggestions about the challenges families sometimes face when they need help. This is an opportunity to collaborate WITH Service Providers and work together towards make a difference within the child and youth mental health and substance use community.
I would appreciate your help distributing it to fellow PAC members and other parents within the school. To that end, I have attached a poster, in PDF as well as JPEF if you are able and willing to post on any websites and/ or social media. I have also attached an information sheet on “What to Expect from a Local Action Team.”
As a parent of a child with mental illness myself, I feel this initiative is extremely important. Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you.
