STEM classesMaker Girls is an after school STEM club for girls currently in grades 7-10, or entering grades 7-10 in September. UBC Engineering’s outreach programs eng•cite and Geering Up has partnered with the Vancouver Public Library to give girls a chance to try fun, hands-on engineering activities and explore what it means to be an engineer. Materials for each workshop are provided, so the only thing girls need to bring is their enthusiasm! As well, please be aware that we have an inclusive view of the word “girl”, and Maker Girls welcomes any interested trans*, genderqueer and non-binary folks.

If any boys are interested in similar programming, we encourage them to check out our other events:

Engineers help prevent disease, reduce poverty, and create solutions to protect people and our planet: engineers are humanitarians, innovators, visionaries, and entrepreneurs. Many engineers also use their degree to become doctors, lawyers, CEOs and entrepreneurs.

UBC Engineering is committed to increasing diversity within our student body to better reflect the diverse society engineers serve. We hope you will help us expose your students to the rewarding engineering options available.

We look forward to meeting your students.
