Roles & Responsibilities

 

Please consider volunteering for
the school year
2015-2016.

PW PAC Needs A

To

Chairperson

  • speak on behalf of the PAC
  • consult with PAC members
  • preside at membership and executive meetings
  • ensure that an agenda is prepared
  • appoint committees where authorized by the membership or executive
  • strive to ensure that the PAC is represented in school and district
    activities
  • ensure that PAC activities are consistent with the purposes set out in the constitution
  • be a signing officer
  • submit an annual report at the AGM

Vice-Chairperson

  • support the chairperson,
  • assume the duties of the chairperson in the chairperson’s absence or upon the request of the chairperson,
  • assist the chairperson in the performance of his or her duties,
  • accept extra duties as required,
  • be a signing officer,
  • submit an annual report at the AGM.

Secretary

  • strive to ensure that members are notified of meetings
  • record and file minutes of all meetings
  • keep an accurate copy of the constitution and bylaws, and make copies available to members upon request,
  • prepare and maintain other documentation as requested by the membership or executive,
  • issue and receive correspondence on behalf of the PAC,
  • ensure safekeeping of all records of the PAC,
  • may be a signing officer,
  • submit an annual report at the AGM.

Treasurer

  • be a signing officer and ensure all fundsof the PAC are properly accounted for
  • disburse funds as authorized by the membership or executive
  • ensure that proper financial records and books of account are maintained
  • report on all receipts and disbursements at general and executive meetings
  • make financial records and books of account available to members upon request and ensure that another signing officer has access to the financial records and books of account in the treasurer’s absence
  • have the financial records and books of account ready for inspection or audit annually
  • with the assistance of the executive, draft an annual budget
  • submit an annual financial statement at the AGM
  • apply for Gaming Grant each April/May and submit Gaming Summary Report each June

Members-At-Large

  • serve in a capacity to be determined by the PAC at the time of election, and at other times as the PAC requires,
  • assist and organize parent volunteers for the various activities and events at PW
  • assist, organize and support the Executive Committee and Reps
  • submit an annual report to the AGM.
 

DPAC
Rep

  • be a liaison between PAC and DPAC (District Parent Advisory Council) by attending meetings, circulating newsletters, reporting at PAC meetings
  • maintain the current registration of PAC in DPAC and BCCPAC
 

Communication

  • maintain a distribution list
  • compile news items from the school/PAC & other resources adhering to communication guidelines
  • send out electronic newsletter and notices
  • maintain pwpac.ca website
 

Parent
Education Coordinator

  • consult with membership and plan Parent Education sessions
  • arrange for guest speakers and provide
    necessary info to speakers
  • submit timely Parent Education session info for posting on website and e-newsletter in a timely fashion
  • introduce/thank (with token gift/card) speaker at PAC meetings

Staff Appreciation

  • organize staff appreciation events twice a year

Chinese Liaison

  • liaise between the PAC and Mandarin speaking parents to
    build community

Korean Liaison

  • liaise between the PAC and Korean speaking parents to build community

Mini Rep

  • attend PAC meetings to report on the activities in the Mini Program

TREK Rep

  • attend PAC meetings to report on the activities in the TREK Program

GOLD Rep

  • attend PAC meetings to report on the activities in the GOLD Program

Music Society Rep

  • attend PAC meetings to report on the activities in the Music Society

School Planning Council Reps

  • establish an annual growth plan together with school principal, a teacher representative, a student representative and 3 parent representatives
