2012 GRAD DIRECT DONATION REQUEST Dear Grad Parents, We are in the planning stages of many events to make this year’s graduation a memorable time for your son or daughter. One of the highlights will be a Grad Dinner Dance held at the Hellenic Centre on June 6, 2012, followed by the traditional After Grad party (“Dry Grad”) at Science World. The purpose of the After Grad is to provide a fun, safe environment for our grads to celebrate until the wee hours. There will be food, entertainment and prizes for the students to enjoy with their classmates. This year’s graduating class is much larger than normal, and we are faced with proportionately larger expenses. To meet these expenses, in lieu of fundraising we are asking parents to kindly consider making a direct donation to Grad 2012. Donations can be made by writing a cheque payable to Prince of Wales Secondary School. For reference, please add “PW DD/Dry Grad” to the memo section of your cheque. The parent grad committee would also appreciate any parents who can donate prizes for some of the events. This will also contribute substantially to our bottom line! Ideas for After Grad Prizes include gift certificates for Future Shop, Starbucks, Subway, clothing stores, restaurants, spas, movies, sporting or entertainment venues, and anything else that teens would love! There will be a Donation Box set up in the school office for cheques. We value your support in helping us make this year’s Grad the best that it can be. The Grad 2012 Committee is actively seeking Grade 11 parent volunteers (or PW Alumni) to help us run various grad events on Wednesday June 6. This is a great way to get a sneak peek at what is in store for when your child is in Grade 12!
Grad Ceremonies: Chan Centre · 1 Lead Volunteer (be at Chan before 2:00) - Setup gown collection tables, setup cookies and water, setup signs for each table (last name A-G, H-N, O-Z etc), bring highlighters and stationary, ensure everything is brought back to PW (gowns, drums, flag, other hardware), coordinate all other volunteers, help collect gowns if necessary. · 2 Volunteers to pick up water (but be at Chan by 2:00) and assist with seating with box office staff, collect gowns, load hardware into vans. · 1 Volunteer to pick up cookies (be at Chan by 4:30), collect gowns, load hardware into vans. · 3 volunteers to collect gowns (be at Chan by 5:00). load hardware into vans. · Please email Howard Shum howardshirley5@gmail.com if you can help at the Chan Centre Grad Dinner Dance: Hellenic Centre · 2 Volunteers to collect tickets · 2 Volunteers to run the coat check · 1 Volunteer to sell drink tickets after 9:30pm · Please email Cynthia Mah gcmah1105@yahoo.ca if you can help at the Dinner Dance.
